Hiking Trail No. 34, “Öm de Kier”:

Along the trail, you’ll need to cross the Weidenbach stream using stepping stones. If the Weidenbach is in flood, the local detour runs along Hiking Trail 33 to Rurberg.

Hiking Trail No. 25 Kalltalweg

Due to the flooding in July 2021, numerous bridges in the Kall Valley are in need of repair. The usual route is therefore currently unavailable. A detour is signposted. 

Hiking Trails No. 27, 24, 32, 62

In the Belgenbach Valley, hiking trails must be rerouted because the path is no longer accessible. In the municipality of Simmerath, this affects Hiking Trail 27; in the Monschau city area, it affects Trails 24, 32, and 62. The detour is also signposted on-site. 

Route Change for Hiking Trail No. 25 – Out and About in Monschau

The route of this hiking trail has been changed in the Oberer Mühlenberg and Austraße area and now runs along Eschbachstraße and through the market square (start of the 3rd stage of the Eifelsteig).

Changed Route for Hiking Trail No. 36: Historic Hiking Trail

Historical Hiking Trail No. 36 has been permanently rerouted because the bridge over the Kall River no longer exists following storm damage. The new route is signposted.

Withered heather blossoms in the Drover Heide—Short and Long Tours through the Drover Heide No. 52

Due to the ongoing drought, the heathlands in the Drover Heide have been severely damaged this year; many flowers have completely withered. As a result, the usual purple heather blooms are largely absent this year.

Trail Closures in Einruhr and Erkensruhr—Post Coach Trail and Wilderness Trail Affected

The municipality of Simmerath is renovating two bridges in the Einruhr and Einruhr-Erkensruhr areas, which will be completely closed for this work. This will result in road closures in the vicinity of the affected bridges. In Einruhr, this affects the “Postkutschenweg” (junction with the B 266), and in Einruhr-Erkensruhr, the Wilderness Trail (in the Erkensruhr/Dörpches Backes area). Appropriate detours will be posted on site. The construction work will continue until fall 2026. 

Hiking Trails in the Hürtgenwald Closed

Hiking trails 04, 14, and 24 in Gey and Großhau are closed until further notice, as they are located within the area affected by the forest fire in the Hürtgenwald. Please observe the barriers and do not enter the closed area.
