Four stages – 85 kilometers: A hike in honor of the wildcat
The peace and vastness of the Eifel National Park await you!
Sometimes on narrow paths, sometimes on well-maintained hiking trails, the 85-kilometer Wilderness Trail winds its way from south to north through the Eifel National Park.
Four day stages ranging from 18 to 24 kilometers invite you to explore the wild beauty and diversity of the nature reserve—they lead through dense forests, past fallen trees, rushing streams, and meadows with sweeping panoramic views.
With a total ascent of 1,787 meters and a descent of more than 220 meters, the hike—which takes place at altitudes ranging from 625 to 173 meters above sea level—is quite challenging.
The Trail Express runs once a day from the Heimbach National Park Gate to the Höfen National Park Gate, conveniently transporting hikers on the Wilderness Trail back to their starting point.
