Nestled in the heart of the Eifel National Park lies Lake Rur—a place to take a deep breath and recharge. Natural swimming spots, sandy beaches, and the Einruhr nature adventure pool invite you to linger, while canoes, SUPs, and tour boats bring the water to life. On land, hiking and biking trails lead to sweeping views of the lake landscape—all the way to the reservoirs in Heimbach and Obermaubach, where the Rur quietly yet powerfully shapes the natural landscape.
Canoeing and kayaking in the Rureifel is an unforgettable experience for anyone looking for a bit of adventure. In addition to a thrilling river descent from Heimbach to Zerkall or Obermaubach, you can also enjoy a leisurely paddle on the Heimbach Reservoir or Lake Rur.
For nature conservation reasons, the Rur may only be navigated between July 15 and February 28.
Registration is required.
when at least 7 cubic meters of water per second are released from the Heimbach reservoir, or when the water level at the Bruchstein Bridge in Heimbach reaches the green mark
after prior registration of the trip with the North Rhine-Westphalia Canoe Association
with an identification card that must be clearly visible throughout the entire trip
On the Kanu-Verband NRW website, you can reserve a boat spot under “Boat Allocations.” This is the permit required to paddle the Rur River from Heimbach using your own canoe. No boats are available for rent on-site at the launch location.
