The Eifelsteig is a 313-kilometer long-distance hiking trail that traverses the Eifel region in a spectacular fashion from north to south—from the coronation city of Aachen, where Charlemagne once resided, to the Roman imperial city of Trier.
Under the motto “Where rock and water accompany you,” the Eifelsteig offers a unique combination of impressive rock formations and babbling brooks—a defining feature that accompanies hikers throughout their entire journey.
The Eifelsteig is complemented by 14 so-called partner trails—some of which are independent, while others run parallel to the Eifelsteig for certain sections. They offer the same high quality, are well-marked, and are ideal for day hikes.
Six of these partner trails run through the Rureifel.

Entwarnung nach Großbränden: Hürtgenwald-Gey und Hohes Venn
Der Brand bei Hürtgenwald-Gey ist vollständig gelöscht, das Feuer im Hohen Venn ist unter Kontrolle. Alle Zufahrtsstraßen sowie die Rad- und Wanderwege in der Rureifel außerhalb der beiden gesperrten Brandflächen sind frei. Es gibt keine Einschränkungen mehr auf der Vennbahn. Die Warnungen zur Luftqualität sind aufgehoben auch die Messungen des LANUK zeigen keine bedenkliche Schadstoffbelastung der Luft. Alle Betriebe sind regulär geöffnet und freuen sich auf Gäste.
