Forest - Water - Wilderness
In the Eifel National Park, wilderness is making a comeback—a unique phenomenon in North Rhine-Westphalia. Across 110 square kilometers, forests and open spaces are gradually evolving into a natural environment left to its own devices.
Already more than half of the area follows the motto “Let nature be nature”—a valuable refuge for endangered species such as the black stork, eagle owl, and wildcat. The national park’s mission: to make room for the pristine, protect biodiversity, and let wilderness flourish.
