At the site of the former marketplace in Mausbach, the equipment house of the Mausbacher fire brigade of the municipality of Gressenich, which was established between 1908 and 1910, stood until June 1941. All towns of the former municipality had equipment vehicles and were able to effectively combat fires thanks to the existing water lines.

The new water line did not meet with approval from all citizens of Mausbach, as evidenced by the following “lamenting song of the patient citizens of Mausbach.”

We cannot have fun,

Also, the waterworks are quite lame,
That means we can't do anything,
The new water here and there,
Looks filthy and slippery,
The pipe shines like fat,
That everyone knows;
And when we often do not have the pump,
Then we would be in bad shape.

The pump and all the other pots,
They don’t give us proper water,
But when they are gone,
We're bankrupt. Hooray.
Some nice plans were also proposed
By our municipal council,
The gutters are full of trash and mud
And shine completely slippery.
Electric light was also produced,
We also take care of the dirt,
About the new water it was also thought,
Those who decided that are mad,
They could have really
Saved us this trouble.
We would finally be worth something,
We have courage
