What our old village lime tree tells!

For a long, long time
I've faithfully stood watch here.
Much I can tell
about the day and the night.

I've seen much
in my life dream.
Much good and also bad
I old lime tree.

I've seen many come
and many go.
I've heard joy and sorrow
since I've had to stand here.

How under my branches
someone was once killed.
This one bad deed
is truly enough.

I saw many Christians
walk to God’s house
and saw them kneel down
there in prayer with reverence.

Once I saw young and old
gathered around me here.
For the fair after the high mass
the first round dance was for me.

The sound of the organ and bell
still hums in my branches.
My heart feels so strange,
during solemn funeral songs.

Now I am sick and tired
should I stand here any longer?
I must soon find salvation
through some healing work.

Then I will remain as hoped
to be preserved for future generations,
and can in the next spring
unfold myself anew.

The farm "Jung"

Josef Jung – the last operator of a historic Mausbach farm

The Mausbach farm, one of the oldest in the village, was last run by Josef Jung (1885–1968). In popular parlance, he was known as "Jongs Jupp". Jung remained single and lived with several siblings.

A transmitted anecdote makes him particularly memorable: Josef Jung seemed as if he limped. In reality, his gait was a habit developed while plowing the field. Behind the plow, he walked with one foot on the edge of the field and the other in the furrow. He retained this peculiar gait even without the plow, which shaped his unmistakable appearance.
