Kriegsgräberstätte

In each of the five villages of the Gressenich municipality, a memorial was erected or a commemorative plaque was placed in 1923 in memory of the fallen soldiers of World War I. In the years 1962 and 1963, the then municipality of Gressenich had the memorial site expanded and redesigned.

War Memorial – commemorates World Wars and Nazi rule

In the 5 villages of the Gressenich municipality, a memorial was erected or a commemorative plaque was placed in 1923 in each locality in memory of the fallen soldiers of World War I. The current honorary cemetery remembers the 95 German war dead, who lost their lives in the terrible battles of 1944-1945 in the area of Mausbach, Weißenberg, Werth, Gressenich, and Schevenhütte. 129 men, women, and children from Mausbach lost their lives in the war. In the years 1962 and 1963, the then municipality of Gressenich had the memorial site expanded and redesigned. This was done with the support of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge. An inscription was later added for the victims of the Jewish family Imdorf who were murdered in concentration camps.
