As soon as snow falls in the Eifel, the landscape is transformed into a winter paradise and you can go tobogganing, cross-country skiing or downhill skiing! The small ski resorts in the Eifel have many advantages for winter sports fans: short journey times, a family atmosphere, cozy huts and great opportunities for tobogganing and cross-country skiing. There are numerous trails around the Monschau region where cross-country skiers can let off steam, for example in Lammersdorf, Eicherscheid, Kalterherberg, Höfen and Rohren.

The "Eicherscheid" cross-country ski trail shown here is located between Eicherscheid and Huppersbroich and winds through the idyllic hedgerow landscape of the Monschau region. Discover the Monschau region in winter and enjoy the crisp winter air in a landscape that, covered in hoarfrost, glistens like magic in the sun. If the weather cooperates, there’s plenty of snow in the Monschau region, and the steep Rur Valley—with its adjacent forests and meadows surrounding the Monschau villages—transforms into a paradise for skiing and snow enthusiasts.

In Eicherscheid, for example, when snow conditions permit the use of a track-setting machine, a cross-country ski trail approximately 7 kilometers long is available. The trail leads right through the unique hedgerow landscape of the Monschau region, which can be experienced nowhere more intensely than in the expansive fields in and around Eicherscheid.
