Circular walk through the Drover Heide bird sanctuary / 5 km
Hard to believe, but also a piece of the Eifel: the Drover Heide surprises with an almost flat landscape of heath, forest and meadows on the easy-to-walk circular trail.
Wooden footbridges cross countless small bodies of water. Rare prehistoric crayfish and great crested newts are just some of their inhabitants. The sunny, warm and insect-rich area also attracts a colorful flock of birds. Whether woodlark or nightjar - over 130 species feel at home in the international bird sanctuary. They are perhaps only outshone by the broom heather.
When it blooms purple in late summer, it is sure to attract all the attention. You can get an overview of this magically diverse natural refuge on the former military training area from the viewpoint on the way back. Let's get up there!
