Gerberplatz
Rureifel tour in Monschau
As the day comes to a close, he comes to life: the night watchman. In his old uniform, with halberd and lantern, he strolls through the narrow streets – and tells stories that are as old as the city itself.
“Hear ye, let it be said…” – almost everyone knows this saying. But do you know what it means? The night watchman reveals it to you – with a wink and plenty of exciting anecdotes.
He tells where the greatest dangers once lurked – outside the gates or right in the dark alleys. You’ll learn how people lived back then, whether children did not always want to go to school (or sometimes did!) – and what the mysterious “thumb brake” is all about.
Between cobblestones, half-timbered houses, and the sound of the river, history comes alive. Not a dry museum, but a real experience in the open air – with someone who knows how to make the night resonate.
