Three stages along the Rur

From the source to the estuary, experience magical landscapes and immerse yourself in the history of the region - this is the RurUfer cycle route, which leads through three countries from Botrange in Belgium to Roermond in the Netherlands. The Rur leads the way: from its source in the mystical High Fens to its confluence with the Meuse. Cyclists cross mountainous landscapes and are enchanted by the romantic town of Monschau and the play of colors of the red sandstone cliffs near Nideggen. Water means life, and not just for us humans. In Obermaubauch, a fish ladder ensures that migratory fish can reach their spawning waters in the upper sections of the river. From the mountains through the alluvial forests into the fertile Börde - the Rur becomes calmer as the tour progresses, the Inden open-cast lignite mine is touched upon, castles and manor houses line the route and the basket-making villages are strung together like pearls and tell of the old craft techniques. The contrast could hardly be greater when the winding towers and spoil tips rise up and remind us of the former Sophia-Jacoba colliery and the importance of coal mining. At the end, the lively town of Roermond welcomes cyclists and invites them to take a stroll.

We will be happy to put together a personalized offer for your tour along the RurUfer cycle path.
