Even the approach is an experience, no matter which direction you come from: the deep valley with its rocks and wooded slopes, the Rur, which makes its way through the valley in a lively and powerful way, the fertile meadows and, of course, Hammer, which nestles close to the edge of the valley floor.
Current condition:
The Bartholomäussteg in Hammer "Am Hammerwerk" is closed until further notice. It is not possible to cross the Rur. For this reason, the route of the path has been rerouted. This is signposted on site and leads "Am Hammerwerk" along the RurUfer cycle path to Grünentalstraße (K21). After a short stretch along the road, a path on the right leads to the "Holderknipp". At the end of the path, you rejoin the hiking trail. This extends the hiking trail by approx. 1.6 km.
