Heimbach
Welcome! On to the SternenBlick "Cosmic Energy"!
Lights off. Sky on.
The protection of the night
See the Milky Way with the naked eye? Enjoy the silence under a canopy of stars? This special experience of nature has become rare. Increasing artificial lighting, especially in cities, is causing the stars to fade from our view. Yet they have inspired culture and science for thousands of years. In addition, the biorhythm of all living beings, including us humans, is synchronised to the change between day and night. We need the darkness.
An island in a sea of light
Fortunately, North Rhine-Westphalia has an island of darkness: the SternenLandschaft Eifel with the Sternenpark Eifel National Park. The "Star Park" distinction is only awarded to the few regions that offer a particularly star-filled night sky. In the SternenLandschaft Eifel, the local authorities have adopted guidelines for star-friendly lighting. The town of Heimbach has also joined in. This will also guarantee a view of countless celestial phenomena in the future.
Experience the night:
SternenBlicke SternenBlicke are places for observing the night sky. They are easy to reach and equipped for astronomical journeys of discovery on your own. Each SternenBlick is unique and tells its own story about the protection of the naturally dark night. The guided hikes to the SternenBlicken are a very special experience.
