In the 17th century, beechnut and other edible oils were produced in the former oil mill. The quarrystone building complex is located in the picturesque Tiefenbach valley. It consists of a residential building and a two-storey extension. A wooden cross from the first half of the 19th century stands in front of the house. Today, the former oil mill is privately owned.

Hiking trails no. 11, 16, 47, 51 lead past the oil mill, which can be visited from the outside.

    Kaiser Karls Bettstatt

    According to the legend, Emperor Charles the Great had become lost in the High Fens during a hunting excursion near his residence in Aachen and was forced to spend the night on this large quartzite rock. The rock, near the town of Mützenich, situated immediately on the German-Belgian border, is still quite commonly referred to as: Kaiser Karl’s Bettstatt.
