“Poetry of Mathematics” at Dürener Tor Nideggen
From May 29 to June 21, 2026, the artist and mathematician Siegfried Genreith will present the exhibition “Poetry of Mathematics – in the Labyrinth of Dreaming Numbers” at Dürener Tor in Nideggen.
Genreith combines mathematics, digital technology, and art into fascinating visual worlds of colors, shapes, and breathtaking structures. His works are derived from natural color scales of landscapes, animals, plants, and mathematical descriptions of nature. They open a poetic view of the hidden beauty of abstract equations.
Mathematics and art have always been in a close, albeit often overlooked, relationship. Geometry, proportions, and mathematical structures have inspired painters and musicians for centuries. The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover mathematics as a creative and emotional form of art.
Siegfried Genreith studied mathematics at the University of Cologne and has been dealing for many years with the interfaces of mathematics, computer science, philosophy, and digital art. His works and publications particularly focus on the question of the scientific causes of intelligence and consciousness. The first graphics were originally created in this context.
