Hochmoor Todtenbruch

Raffelsbrand

The Todtenbruch is the north-easternmost foothill of the High Fens and a real rarity in NRW. It takes special climatic conditions for this raised bog to develop. The importance of the soil as a habitat and plant location is vividly explained on an approximately 4 km long educational soil trail, which leads along an approximately 700 meter long boardwalk directly over the sensitive soils and through the source area of the Weiße Wehe.

Please note the seasonal closure: in order to protect the sensitive nature, the area is not accessible between December 1 and March 31.
