The marketplace becomes the meeting point of the generations

In Roetgen, the upcoming May festival is focused on community. On Thursday, April 30th, the local cartel invites everyone along with local clubs to the marketplace starting at 5:00 PM. The event concept is aimed at all age groups and regularly attracts guests from nearby communities. Various games, a bouncy castle, a mini carousel, and a treasure hunt will be offered for children and teenagers. The culinary offerings include specialties from the opposite butcher shop and the Scout waffle stand.

The music program begins at 6:00 PM with the band "Chaosover," presenting a wide repertoire from rock and pop to current hits. The ceremonial highlight is a festive procession around 7:00 PM: The volunteer fire department and the Roetgen music association will bring the May heart to the marketplace in a joint march. Accompanied by the rhythms of the group "Copa Sambana," the symbol of spring will be led to the Maypole, where firefighters and May boys will attach it around 7:30 PM. This act marks the official starting signal for the May night.

Starting at 8:00 PM, the well-known group "Volljaas" will take the stage, which caused a high visitor response the previous year.

Due to preparations, the marketplace will be closed to motor vehicles starting Tuesday, April 29th. During the celebrations, passing through the main road (L238) and Rosentalstraße in the area of the festival ground will also not be possible.
