The former duke residence of Nideggen is located on the red sandstone rocks, which can be easily seen from far away. Two impressive town gates welcome the guests. Surrounded by an old town wall, small alleyways in the historic centre lead to the castle yard with the powerful donjon, which today accommodates the Rhineland Castle Museum. An impressive view opens up from the legendary old castle. The castle, the town wall, the city gates, many half-timbered houses, knight and patrician houses invite you to linger in historic surroundings. 300 km of hiking trails and an excellent network of bicycle lanes are leading from here to the marvellous Rur-Eifel.
